IRS Publications
Although taken with a grain of salt, these Publications often reveal procedures which will save you time and headaches when properly demanding your money back from the IRS.
IRS Publication 5 - This Publication explains that you can dispute most determinations from the IRS by requesting an appeals office conference. This Publication offers detailed instructions on how to dispute a Frivolous letter, Letter of Proposed Changes, or Notice of Claim Disallowance.
Misc IRS Documents
Here are some of the IRS's own manuals, for IRS employees. Read them carefully.
6209 Manual- This manual will assist you in deciphering the codes which are contained in an Individual Master File (IMF.) Some people find this useful, so I will include it here.
Sample Letters
These are generic letters in response to various attempts by the IRS to deny you of your property after filing a tax return, and properly rebutting erroneous information returns with the use of a Form 4852. They conform to the procedures outlined in IRS Publication 5. These letters are for example purposes only, and should not be used without being heavily modified to meet your specific situation. You are ultimately responsible for any letters signed under penalty of perjury.
Response to 3176 Frivolous Letter
Response to Claim Disallowance
Response to Letter of Proposed Changes
Response to CP22E by taxeraser - Wow, nice work!
Form W-0 - Affidavit to get the company you work for to sign. Very simple, and very powerful once it is signed. Now why didn't I think of that?
Form W-0 instructions - This is the only commentary on this form written by its anonymous author.
